WHO ARE WE?

OMG Everywhere is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that began as a dream in the summer of 2011, when few of us music video folks really wanted teach filmmaking to the next generation. We began organizing a series of free, week-long film workshops for kids in Los Angeles. Our goal was to provide students with an opportunity to experiment creatively and develop new skills through collaboration with artists.

These days there really are cameras everywhere. So, it’s no longer about access, its about ideas. It’s not about learning to be professional, it’s about learning to be creative. For each project we partner a groups of kids with working filmmakers, all collaborating together with the intention of fostering an open and creative environment.

We believe that looking at the world through the lens of a camera can enable anyone to see the power of their imagination. Sure, we teach the kids about the basics of filmmaking, but they are the ones who constantly remind us that nothing is impossible when you have a camera, an idea and a group of friends.

WHAT DO WE DO?

During the week-long program, each kid receives hands-on experience through group sessions – covering areas such as writing, working with cameras, creating special FX, creating sets, stunts, editing, and much more. The students then apply these skills as they direct music video performances for both local and major label musicians, as well as a variety of smaller short form projects. At the end of each workshop there is a final screening premiere at a local movie theater, displaying the students’ filmmaking creations on the big screen before sharing them online!
